It is imperative that Greene County know its Clerk is not only a person of integrity, but someone with the professional skills and experience to ensure the integrity of the elections process. Shane is prepared to face the challenges ahead that will impact Greene County voters.
One issue that Shane is watching on the horizon is the reliability of the voting equipment currently used by the county. In 2006 the federal government provided billions of dollars to each state to upgrade to more modern voting equipment in response to issues that came forth in the 2000 presidential election. The voting equipment is close to reaching its expected lifespan and is therefore vulnerable to technical problems. One of Shane’s first priorities as Clerk will be to research the best voting equipment available and determine how best to pay for it.
“It’s important to protect the integrity of every election by ensuring the voting equipment works without error and to continue Greene County’s excellent tradition of elections that are compliant, transparent and trusted by all voters. I know I have the experience and knowledge necessary to uphold the standard of excellence set forth by retiring Clerk Richard Strukhoff and his experienced team in the office.”
